The Alocasia mix contains vermiculite instead of the more common perlite. This keeps the soil moist for longer. Vermiculite retains moisture very well and slowly releases it into the soil. This makes it easier to keep your Alocasia evenly moist and reduces the time you need to water it, giving you more time to admire your plant! Using the mix is easy! Start by removing as much old soil as possible. Gently squeeze the pot while holding it sideways to loosen the plant. Run the carrots under lukewarm tap water to remove the last bits. Also, be sure to remove any dead leaves from the plant with scissors. Now your plant is ready for the fresh Alocasia soil. Add a small layer of Alocasia mix to the bottom of the pot. Place the plant in the pot and slowly add Alocasia soil around the edges to fill it in. Make sure the point where the roots touch the plant is just below the Alocasia soil. Gently tap the Alocasia mix into the jar. Be sure to water the Alocasia mix thoroughly after repotting as this will help the mix and roots to establish.
